Wonders of the Wurlitzer: Sherlock Jr.
Join the Lucas Theatre for the Arts celebration of National Silent Movie Day at a special centennial screening of Buster Keaton's comedic triumph "Sherlock Jr.," featuring live musical accompaniment by organist Ron Carter on the Lucas' original Mighty Wurlitzer organ. In this dazzling, enduring, meta masterpiece, Keaton's lovelorn aspiring sleuth dreams himself into the role of movie detective hero. From physical feats to ingenious camera trickery, this breathtaking display of silent comedy is a clever reflection of the magic of the movies and remains a marvel to this day.
The film will be preceded by the Keaton short "Hard Luck," which was the first film to play in the Lucas Theatre when it originally opened in 1921.
Tickets for the event are free for SCAD Card holders; $10 for students, military, and seniors; and $15 for the general public.
