The Drowsy Chaperone
Produced by the SCAD School of Film and Acting, The Drowsy Chaperone is a delightful musical comedy that combines 1920’s glamour with sharp, witty humor. The story unfolds through the eyes of a lonely theater lover, known only as "Man in Chair," who finds joy in his favorite record of a forgotten Broadway hit.
As the music spins, the show bursts to life in his apartment, with the Man in Chair narrating the whimsical, over-the-top plot. Set in the world of a starlet’s wedding, the play within the play follows Janet Van de Graaff as she plans to leave the spotlight and marry her fiancé, Robert. A hilarious mix of eccentric characters— including a bumbling best man, a desperate producer, two gangsters disguised as pastry chefs, a clueless hostess, a misguided Casanova, and a tipsy chaperone— create a whirlwind of comic chaos. A loving parody of Broadway’s golden age, The Drowsy Chaperone is packed with outrageous antics, show-stopping songs, and zany twists!
Tickets are $20 General Admission, $15 for Seniors, Students and Military, and FREE with SCAD ID on Thursday, May 22, then $5 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances.
