Savannah Book Festival Opening Address: George and Paula Saunders
George Saunders, winner of the 2017 Man Booker prize for his first novel, a New York Times #1 Bestseller, Lincoln in the Bardo, will present the 2019 Savannah Book Festival Opening Address with his debut novelist wife, Paula Saunders. George is the author of nine books, including Tenth of December, an essay collection which was a finalist for the National Book Award and won the inaugural Folio Prize. He has received MacArthur and Guggenheim fellowships and the PEN/Malamud Prize for excellence in the short story. His newest book, Fox 8, was published in November. Paula Saunders published her debut novel, A Distance Home, this summer. They will be discussing their writing lives, processes and inspirations.
